Server Location Does Impact SE Rankings
It’s important when you first start your website to make sure you are going to be targeting the right people. The domain name itself plays a big part but not as big as the location of your server.
Let’s say for example you have a website with a .fr extension which means its a French domain name, that can still rank highly in google.com if the server is located in America.
If you have a domain with a fr extension and is hosted on a server in France then you can only rank highly in the French version of google – google.fr.
A good idea if you want to market your website in America as well as France is to by a .com domain as well as .fr.
