How To Get More Blog Hits
Ok this question was sent in to our advise desk asking “How to get more blog hits”, so I’m going to try and explain how to get more hits to your blog and increase traffic at the same time. Just so we’re clear there’s two definitions for the term “hit” when it comes to talking about a website. A hit can be referred to a visitor landing on your website or a hit can also mean how many times content from your website has been pulled and displayed to someone. For this article we are going to call a visitor a visitor and every time something is pulled from your site a hit.
A hit is recorded each time something is pulled from your server and shown to a visitor, the visitor doesn’t have to be on your website or even visit your url to record a hit. So for example lets say a user visits google images and types in a term which displays 5 of your images, those 5 images would have been pulled from your server and counted towards your hits. Hits can also be counted when a user does visit your website and is displayed with images, each time an image is displayed it has to be pulled from the server and recorded as a hit.
I don’t know many people who want to increase the amount of hits to there blog so I will explain about how to get more visitors to your blog instead. If you own a blog then it should be specific to a certain niche and not contain posts for all different types of niches unless that’s what you plan to do. By keeping your blog specific you can control the visitors on your site a bit more, so for example you could add relevant links to the content which takes them to a product or sales page ect. Its quite simple really, the more posts you publish the more traffic you will receive. All your posts should be unique and your keywords for that article should be planned out in advance, for example the phrase I’m going for is How To Get More Blog Hits as that was the question asked.
With every post you publish you should have a routine where you submit them to social bookmarking sites or if you think its good enough to share on twitter then go ahead. You need to promote your article where other users will find it interesting, if it is a good article then it should get a good amount of traffic.
Always try out different ways of promoting so you can see what works well together ect.
