How To Repair A Crashed Mysql Table

crashed-databaseOne of my worst nightmares came true this morning and I thought I had lost every post I had ever written. I woke up and blogged a couple of posts about the iphone and all was well, I then went out of the office for a couple of hours to grab some lunch and when I returned I noticed every post on my wordpress blog had vanished, I quickly logged into the admin panel and it also said that there were 0 posts.

I had a little panic and thought what’s happened as all my categories and tags were still showing so i knew that part of the database was working and more than likely the part which stored my posts had been deleted or corrupt.

I logged into my sites cpanel and navigated to phpadmin and had a look at my wordpress database, the wp_posts table was saying it was in use and when I tried to browse it came back with this error.

#145 – Table ‘./xxxxxx_wrdp1/wp_posts’ is marked as crashed and should be repaired

Know matter what you do you wont be able to access the data within the table so you have no choice but to repair it, you wont be able to perform a backup until the repair has attempted to fix the error.

What you need to is click the checkbox next to the table that is corrupt i.e wp_posts and at the bottom of that window you will have a drop down menu, select repair table and hope for the best.

The repair worked on my table and I got all my posts back instantly, I hope this works for you.
