How To Promote A Freshly Registered Domain
I have promoted many website and have created several successful start up companies online. If you have a fresh new idea for a website and want to start promoting it you need to take into account the search engine optimization rules, these rules arnt written down anywhere but after promoting hundreds of websites you get a good idea of what can and cant be done.
I’m going to tell you some of my tips and tricks that I use to get a freshly registered domain name indexed and ranking well in google. For this example I am going to pick a random niche which is likely to be used by one or two of my readers and that niche is “digital scales”. I have picked this niche as its easy to understand and everyone knows what digital scales are.
Lets do a bit of keyword research first off so we can see what our most popular term will be, The popular term for this niche is “digital scales” so what we want to do is include that in our domain, I have purchased buy-digital-scales.co.uk for this example.
Once you have your freshly registered domain and added your site content i.e products ect you can now think about promoting it. The first thing I would do is get the site indexed as soon as possible and to do that I would submit my url to the top social bookmarking sites like digg.com and reddit.com as google crawls these sites all day long.. If you submit a link to a site that gets crawled all day long there is a high chance your link will be crawled and as a result your site will be crawled as well.
The sooner you get your site indexed the better, so I would create a google compliant sitemap and submit it to google webmaster tools so the google bot can download it and crawl all my urls. Its best to have a sitemap as it insures that google will find all the pages you want it to do. Google will crawl most submitted sitemaps within a few hours so its a good idea to make one and submit it.
Once your site has been indexed give it a few days to see where you naturally rank first and then take it from there.
To increase your search engine position with a freshly created site I would do it slowly, make sure your on-site optimization is as good as you can get it before you think about starting the off-site optimization i.e link building.
A good inbound link structure helps you build a reputation about your website with google. I only focus on building lifetime relevant links from similar sites to the one I am promoting. This can either be hard or easy depending on your niche, if you was aiming for a gaming related website this would be easy as there are millions of gaming related sites which are potentially inbound links. Going with the current example “digital scales” I would advertise on cooking sites and shopping sites as well as other niches similar to them.
When you link build try to get your links from reputable sites and good quality sites as this will help you rank better and go towards building your websites reputation with google. A good way to see if a particular websites has a good reputation with google is to check there pagerank as a good pagerank means a good reputation.
Search engine optimization and getting high ranks takes awhile and cant be rushed, you need to be patient otherwise you’ll end up damaging your website. Sometimes you can get lucky and rank highly from the start but that depends on how good your optimization and how competitive your niche is.
